 Chapter Twenty Seventh:

Next Chapter

Previous Chapter

It was a strange evening, the sky was blue, black and purple. It was clear that a storm was yet to come and the thunder's roar was that of a lion. It was about to rain but it didn't. A car drove in and a man stepped out of it. The man was entering Brown Palace. He was greeted by the butler and went straight in. He was tall slim and overall fit. He seemed like a important person and no servant questioned him. As if they knew him and he frequently visited this place.
''Carla.'' a heavy voice echoed within the gigantic walls of the sitting room where a fire's crack was all that could be heard after the voice had called  a name.
Carla who was drinking and playing with her vulture which she had in a cage turned back.
''Oh my Victor. What a surprise.'' she hugged him but the man kissed her.
''No not here.'' she resisted.
''I want you to be sober here. All these servants know that who you are and they also are well accustomed to me and Mr brown. Such a act should never be repeated again I warn you.'' she hissed like a cobra. No doubt her green eyes and the shining dress she was wearing gleamed like a cobra. Ready to attack.
Victor who looked like a professional bodyguard went to the bar to make himself a drink.
He had multiple scars on his arms and one on his cheek. It was a deep scar. It led straight from the cheek bone to the jaw. It seemed that he was attacked ruthlessly when he got that one. That too from an experienced fighter.
''I cannot go on like this forever you must do something about all this shitty things you got yourself into.'' the heavy voice echoed a little less this time. Maybe he had paid attention to Carla's warning.
''That day will be here anytime.'' she grinned maliciously.

''Today she will be discharged and here are the medicines she must take in order to keep her mood swings normal and the rest will be taken care off.'' the doctor said to him and he was at the reception. When he came to the room he found it empty.
''Tins.'' he checked the bathroom the hall and everywhere. He quickly got in the car and drove to the only place where she could be.
He knew that Tina had this habit of disappearing suddenly but he thought she would have changed after marriage and motherhood but he was wrong. She didn't change at all.
He drove towards the cemetery and went straight to Taylor's grave. He was absolutely right.
Tina was sitting there talking to him.
''Tins you are crazy and haven't changed a bit have you.'' he sighed and sat down next to her.
''Why  did you follow me when you knew where I would be. Why don't you all leave me alone to be damn it.''
''We can't because you are crazy enough to get yourself in trouble again.''
''Let me be here.'' Tina looked exhausted. ''Only on one  condition that I will stay here with you.''
She remained quiet and said nothing. It was still morning and the sun was shining the birds were singing, the breeze was cold. Everything around her was normal only she was acting abnormal.
''What about Jenny? Why are you glued to me all the time and not with Jenny? Do you want to leave her like all the other women?'' she gazed at the sky with her swollen red eyes that witnessed they hadn't slept for days and her heavy mind that hadn't stopped thinking about Taylor even for a minute.
''I cannot leave you even if she leaves me.'' Ben said looking directly in her eyes.
Tina felt uneasiness and looked away. ''She will leave you because she is sensing that something is changing in you. Why are you ruining your life for me Ben? I have lived centuries of happiness with this man.'' she pointed towards Taylor's grave. ''He had given me everything. Happiness , love and a child. Don't ruin your life for a self pitying widow with a child and a uncertainty that she might never be the same Tina again.'' she toyed with her wedding ring.
''I can ruin everything to get back my Tins once again and I will certainly get her back and Taylor is in a better place now and I know how much it will hurt him to see you like this in such state. Neglecting yourself, your life and your child. The child he loved more than anything else. Come on now let's go and start your life again this time with the memory of Taylor and his happiness if you truly love him.'' he got up and brushed the mud and grass of his jeans and offered the still sitting Tina his hand who was in no mood of leaving Taylor alone but she had to do as Ben said at least for the time being.
''Trust me I know what it is like to lose a loved one. But I also know how to overcome it.'' he said to her and she just stared at him without saying anything.

''Mom I cannot live here, I and Liz will live in our home. I will not let his house be locked and empty. I'm his widow and she is his daughter, we both are a part of him.'' she was going upstairs to gather her and Liz's things. She had been living for the past whole month in her own house. It was better this way because she needed care and Liz needed someone who could look after her. But she wanted to be in Taylor's house. The house which had his essence in it.
She looked at the door for a moment and then she went inside. Little Liz was holding her mother's hand.  With a heavy heart she looked around and the nightmare came back to her. That night which was supposed to be the best moment of their lives turned into the news of Taylor's death. She slid her hand over the staircase, over his clothes, his side of the bed. His wedding ring. Everything she touched that he used to touch. A tear rolled up her cheek. ''Mommy where is daddy?'' Liz came and jumped on her. She quickly wiped the tear and showed her the frame which had Taylor's picture in it. ''Here is your daddy, he went far for a long long vacation and will be back. When you will be all grown up and smart.'' she kissed her.
''I will be smart soon, if I be smart tomorrow will he come back tomorrow then?'' she was asking questions and Tina knew that there is no end to the questions of a two year old.
''Why are you troubling your mother Liz?'' Ben appeared from the door.
''You scared me oh god Ben.'' she gasped and Liz went running towards him.
''I knew you would need me for Liz and I just got informed that you came here. Are you sure about this?''he looked at her in askance.
''About what?'' she was understanding but she wanted him to say it. Name it mainly.
''Living alone all by yourself when you just came back from nearly dying.''
''I'm sure I've proven I'm no longer weak like I used to be.'' she got up placed the frame back at its place and began to search for a dress to wear.
''What about Jenny I haven't heard from her in a while, neither did she come visit me are you both together or did you do something again?'' she took out a lavender colored shirt.
''Let's talk about it some other time maybe. I'm taking Liz with me outside.''
he told her but didn't wait for her permission.

Tina was ready to go back to the office. She was now in the place of Taylor. She would do every single thing to keep his name alive. His work kinetic. His vision influential. She came back to this office after a long time. She had joined work again after the birth of Liz but she would often keep it less methodical. This was the place where the two of them became more close to each other.
This was the place where they both used to talk and giggle. All the employers were gathered to greet her as their new C.E.O. She opened the door to Taylor's cabin and shut it quickly. She had fought with herself. She had done as much a warrior would do to win a battle. She did it without a sword or a armor. Her heart was beating fast and her legs were shaking. She quickly sat on the sofa in the corner of the magnanimous cabin and took out a pill. After taking the pill she threw her head on the side and looked out of the window. The view from this high was breathtaking and fearful but she was not afraid. What could she be afraid of? Was there anything to lose? Anything to give up? No there was nothing to be afraid of. She glanced at the table where he used to sit and she would come and he would pretend as if he didn't know her. The rule she made for work. The things they both used to do. She touched the chair. Although it must have been cleaned a multiple times by the last time he sat on it but she wanted to touch it. Then she sat on it.
''I promise I will keep your legacy alive as I can for the best part of me died with you Taylor. All that is left of me is just for our child and nothing else.''

She had been struggling and proved that she was doing great. Rachel was delighted for her but she was heartbroken for Ben.
''Mame, a man had come to visit and says he is a friend of Master Taylor.'' Micheal the butler of Taylor announced. He had been away for sometime but as soon as he heard that Tina had returned to the house he came back. He almost raised Taylor and was the most loyalest of his servants. Tina would never fire him as she loved everyone who was connected with him in one way or another.
Tina thought for a moment about any friend of Taylor that she didn't know about.
''Okay send him in.'' she closed a file she was reading. Liz was playing in front of her sitting on a rug with her toys. ''Nancy take Liz away for a moment.'' she called on Liz's nanny.
''Take her away for a moment will you.'' she got up to see who's is coming.
''Very well Ma'am.'' Nancy took Liz with her to her room.
Tina saw a familiar feminine face from the window.

''You need to think about it. How many people that you know look like that name them.'' Jenny spread her legs around in front of her and began questioning Ben regarding the man in the hood.
Ben who scratched his head tried to focus. He gazed out of the window where birds were flying with their young ones probably teaching them a lesson of flight and the cars horns were honking below. Everyone was busy. Busy with their lives matters and issues. God knows where that man would be.
''He could be anyone. Anyone. It could be Sam, it could be Arthur, it  could even be someone I don't know.'' he called a list of names he knew and had an impression with and most of all this was a stupid idea to count Sam and Arthur. They all were close friends in college and still are now. Ben helped them with their careers , jobs and financial crisis. They all are still close friends. Ben gave up this idea and began to think about people whom he didn't know well and they had a grudge against him.
''But who do you think will benefit from my death? '' Ben turned back to Jenny from the window.
''Exactly I know someone who will benefit from it. '' Jenny was inordinately serious.
