''I assume that your service here at my house has come to an end.''
Victoria, Albert and Catherine were all seated in the hall.
''You who are more loyal to Simmons family than me should consider a job at their place.''
Teresa looked around and began in a shaking voice, ''Lady Victoria I...''
''Don't trouble yourself, I will not take any measures on my to be wife's security and if you persist I'll make Jamie throw you out. '' Albert sipped his tea.
''Jamie please take her away before I lose my temper.'' Victoria got up.
Teresa fell on her feet.
''Lady pardon me. I beg you I have little children without a father. George offered me a great deal of money my father's sick. I did not have the courage to ask you...''
''Ask me?.'' Victoria moved away.
''How dare you? You were born in this home yet you think they could've helped you more? Or did you think you could make fortune by selling my house to a mere embezzler? You should thank God I leave you alive go now you piece of filth and sell your soul more to the Simmons.''
Jamie took the wailing Teresa away.
''Now that she's gone and we've found the one who helped our nemesis conspire against us I'm at much relief but we should keep our eyes open and are ears attentive. You two should go out and talk to each other. I have noticed that Catherine wants to talk to you but because of my presence she's not comfortable. Go on you two and spend sometime together.'' Victoria slapped Albert's back and went out of the hall.
''I'm listening.'' Albert looked at Catherine.
''Not here somewhere else.'' she got up and went out.

''This is the place where we got to know each other. It's been two months.'' Catherine's hair flowed with the wind.
It was a gratifying breezy evening.
''Three months since you came here and three and a half, fifteen hours and 45 minutes since I first saw you.'' he looked directly in her eyes.
Those eyes full of mysteries which hid more than they tell.
''That day when I was abducted I sent for you to never to return yet I wanted to talk about certain things which you should have told me but you never did. Maybe because you thought the the girl's on my mercy I am not answerable to her even if those major secrets have a part in shaping her life for good or bad. You did this to make me feel good but that broke my heart. Think it as a favor that Edmund didn't let me meet you here otherwise we both would have gone separate ways.''
He didn't say anything but just sat there looking at her.
''Victoria is my nobody. She has no relation with me yet she calls me her niece. You made this setup. You without even asking me got yourself engaged with me. If you think this is the way you can protect me then remember, you protect by love and trust not deceit and lie.
That day when I overheard that you asked her to come to Dover and pick me up just as if I was nobody. I had a life a title. I was not a nobody. I think I really misunderstood you for what you truly are. Maybe it was better that no one talks to me or looks at me and you keep me locked in a cellar of yours?''
''What can I do to make you believe in me again? Should I arrange yours and Edmund's marriage would that be enough? Yes I asked Victoria to bring you here give you the same so called name and title which people had forgotten and left your mother helpless when you and your whole titled family needed help. Yes I asked her to help you and you should be known by everyone just like you were and the life you led and that's deceit. Yes I got engaged to you right there without asking your permission but I should have led Edmund out ahead for this task and maybe you would have enjoyed being among his numerous wives. Yes I kept you from this and this is a lie.'' he shouted the last words.
Catherine looked at him and after a while sat down.
''You really didn't understand me and I don't think you will. I did this all only for you because I love you. You can still try, go back to Dover and continue living the life you had been living and wait till resurrection to get out of all that.''
''I didn't want to upset you I wanted you to be true with me from the beginning. Remember when that day we first met at Victoria's ball I gave you a chance to tell me the truth but you lied straight to my face. I can bear everything but lie.''
''I won't lie to you.'' he said after a while.
''Ever?.''
''Ever. I love you Catherine. Love which I have experienced with only one woman. Lords like me are traded in marketplaces for wives. We are traded by our houses our titles in bargain for another's fortune making us richer and richer to this extent that we are the most destitute one's in this world. I have had a life before you I admit. I am not an angel I am a demon. I am not a saint but I truly will protect my woman. The woman for whose one look at me I can leave all this world behind. My title my house my everything. I don't care, I don't give a damn.'' he got up and came near her hugged her and smelled her hair.
''I love you too. Love that is pure. I love you the way you are. Your eyes are full of secrets yet they are revealing. I would never think of someone else you know that. By teasing me by the name of Edmund you break my heart. My heart has been yours the first time I saw you at that broken cottage door. Your hair was flowing with the wind on your forehead. You were dressed like a common man not like the lord I had just served at the inn with my face blackened by coal. When I looked at you, you were even more terrified than me as someone had taken your precious possession from you. As if you had fallen for the most miserable girl on this planet. Who was beaten up and left out in the cold with bleeding wounds. Who had no appearance like she was a real lady or daughter of a lord sometime.'' He looked at her in disbelief.
''Really? You liked me back then? I thought I had made a fool of myself and when you didn't let me see your wounds I thought you hate me.''
She laughed and kissed him, ''I was really mad at you when you left in the morning. It is strange that you are mad over someone you never met but only once and you are cursing him that why did he leave without saying goodbye but I felt as if I was abandoned again. I had lived a life of that one of the royals. My mother and father always loved me. everyone liked me. But it was as if God said that I would now make you taste the bitterness of hate. The much I was loved I was hated later in my step uncle's house.''
''Look at me. You are loved.'' he cupped her face in his hands.'' You will always be loved my dear pretty Cathy.''
''Forget it let's go somewhere else so that you don't change your mind and marry that sweet Edmund of yours.''
''Even if this is a joke I don't like it.''
He took out the ring from his pocket and again slipped in down her ring finger.
''Do I have the right to now?''
''You already did that and again asked for the permission later as usual.''
''My bad. Catherine why did you wanted to leave. I hid it from Victoria but it was not a noble thing to do.''
''I don't know Albert maybe I have a dark side too. The angry one I myself am completely unaware of.''
''We'll shut all the doors of these darkness es behind.''
''No more lies promise me. I am giving myself away to you. You know all about me and I expect the same just don't ever lie to me ever again.''
''I promise over my life.''
