Chapter Thirteen:
His loneliness, his lunacy, his madness resulted him being in dementia
when he woke up, in his own bed and own house. His head was aching
severely. His bad. He gathered up his low energy to got up and found
himself in a t shirt. He was wearing a suit last night and he was
wearing it when he passed out. Who did this to him and who brought him
back here? He was never that intimate with any one except Tina who had
already ran away, then who was this person and how does that person knows all
about me. These questions require an answer which was not arriving in a
letter to the bed so he must get up and find out the intruder this
criminal who is spying on him.
All
that was left to him was his privacy and that too was snatched. He got
up and his head was swirling. Then he went to the kitchen to get himself
an aspirin. He opened the cabinet and found a note on the fridge.
'Found you near the edge, Saved you and brought you in. Jennifer.'
He
took the note and sat on the chair near the counter to drink water. The
aspirin was struck in his throat after reading the note.
Jennifer? How did she get into my apartment?
How is this security working?
He had so many questions.
Tina and Taylor were glued to each other till Tina was hungry.
''I forgot about it totally. Why are you doing this to me?'' she laughed.
He was still lying in bed looking at her she went to the bathroom.
She came back after taking a bath.
''I liked the first one better.'' Taylor said to her while she was standing in front mirror.
''Which?''
''The way you went inside. Undressed.''
''Shut up and get up.'' she threw at him a cushion.
''Okay. '' he got up and went to dress himself up.
They arrived to late and Karen was making lunch.
''Where's mom?'' Tina asked Karen.
''Ah she went to work.'' Karen served them lunch and then went for groceries.
''What are your other plans?'' Tina looked at him from one corner of her eye.
''How far is Louisville from here?'' Taylor asked her a question instead.
''I don't know isn't it Kentucky?'' Tina said with her mouth full of food.
''It is genius. Some other time maybe.''
''what other time. Stop with this suspense.''she said irritated.
''Nothing it's a suspense which will unravel itself after marriage.'' he joked instead.
''Okay.'' she said taking another bite of sandwich.
''You used to say that you and Ben used to sail a lot?''
''Too much. We would be on the sea all night, all day until noon's sun would wake us up.''
''All right then girl we are going sailing.''
Ben
had come home. He came home after seven years. He never sat foot in
that place since he moved out from here. His dad's house was enormous
and consisted low ceilings and enormous glass windows. There was a gate
at first after which there was a path covered by thick trees right and
left leading to the main structure. This was a wedding present from
Dylan to Helena but she didn't took it. Instead she left it, this house was an ill fated house which never could reside a family in it.
The outsider would curl around the road then park car in front of the
entrance. It seemed more like an inextricable maze, riddle more than a
house. Huge printed glass gazebos stand alone in the lush green
orchards. This house was the one which both the mother and son could not
adapt to neither this house was ever a home. It was a luxury to the the
eye but to Ben it was a massive structure gazing at him angrily. He
could have survived this if it weren't for Carla. The outsider would
rode for minutes curling round and round the entire land reaching the
main entrance.Which that was a glass door. Ben opened the door and
walked through the gallery leading to the living room. In middle was
furniture on the other side an aquarium took the entire wall inside
itself on the other were stairs curling up in a dance to the second
story. Thick velvet curtains were curled up from each side giving the
view of the lush green gardens outside.
No
one was at home. It was evening. His father would still be at office.
Its better to wait until he arrives to notify him about what he was here
 for.
He sat on the sofa and turned on the television. On the other hand Jennifer was exasperating him.
He heard footsteps other than the servants. It must be Carla. His stepmother. He turned behind and it was her.
''Ben.'' she looked at him.
''Hello Carla.'' Ben said and then sat again.
''What a surprise. I hope you are okay. Is anything wrong or something. Because you usually don't come here.''
There
she goes again. She was the main reason Ben left. Her speech is like a
slow poison or high cyanide. Ben disregarded her notion and said
instead.
''I'm waiting for dad.'' he continued to keep his eyes on television.
''He won't be back until midnight.''
''I'll wait. Don't worry.'' he then took out his phone from his jeans pocket which was ringing.
He stood up opened the sliding glass door that led to one portion of the orchard.
He stood under a tree where red flowers had bloomed despite the fact that it was the end of July.
''Yes
Tins I understand, so when are you getting married?'' it was Tina and
Ben was trying to be mature. At least he was trying that was enough for
the moment. He did not forget what Rachel said to him even in the time
he was severely intoxicated and would have fallen from the thirty story
edifice if it weren't for his savior Jennifer whom he had not praised
yet.
''I'll talk to you in a moment.'' Ben disconnected the call when he saw his father's car approaching the path.
The
chauffeur parked the car and Dylan did not wait for him to open the
door for him instead he opened it himself and popped out of the car as
if a kid has seen his preferred illusion in reality.
''My boy. Welcome home.'' Dylan came towards Ben with open arms.
After hugging him and taping his back with a overwhelmed excite he took him inside.
''Carla , Carla.'' Dylan shouted and Carla appeared from the kitchen.
''My boy is here. Prepare his favorite food Samuel. Serve us some drinks. We'll enjoy tonight.''
Ben
looked at his father seriously without interrupting him. It might would
have ruined his mood and this mood he needed for tonight. If he would
have mentioned right away why he was here it might not work.
The dinner was served and Dylan was continuously chatting with Ben.
''We have bought this vast land and I want you to design the complex.'' he said picking up the half loin of the meat.
''I
don't think that this land is suitable for the complex we should try
something different.'' Ben said filling his glass with more wine.
''Why? what do you propose we should do instead.''
''As long as its not vulnerable.''
''What vulnerable?'' Dylan was confused.
''I think this is exactly what we need for a seven star.'' Ben looked at him.
Dylan laughed. And then he went silent.
''You serious?''
''I
damn am. This is the first time that Browns will deal with a hotel. I
know I understand the risk and everything but as I said. It's a multi
billion deal.'' he then shrugged.
Dylan
was serious and stopped eating for a while. Carla was present at the
table listening their conversation but did not barge in.
''Okay. I have thought. Done. You'll design it.'' Dylan said with sparkling eyes.
''I
will but I have a condition for it. Let us enjoy the dinner and I will
tell you about the condition later perhaps.'' Ben did not want Carla to
hear it.
Dylan somehow knew Ben wanted to talk in private. He nodded and then they ate dinner.
After dinner Dylan took Ben to the study to discuss what was his condition.
''Tell me now what do you want in return?'' Dylan said putting his empty glass on the bar in the study.
''I want to know where mom lives.'' Ben said with a serious tone.
Dylan looked at him to make sure he's not drunk then he laughed out loud.
''You serious? after all these years why?'' Dylan was pouring himself some more drink.
''You want?'' he asked .
''No all I want is to know where mom lives.'' he placed the empty glass on the table and then turned towards Dylan.
''She lives in Paris. She always did. Everyone knows that.'' he sat on the sofa.
''Where in Paris?''.
''I don't know.''
''You do.'' Ben was now gazing out of the window that was on the side of the bar.
''Let
me check in my mail.'' Dylan got up and opened his drawer to find years
old mail. It took him minutes until he found a old letter addressed to
him.
''There you go.'' he handed Ben the envelope.
''Now our deal.'' Dylan was still unsure of his decision.
''Its a deal already dad. Don't worry. I have no plans of living in Paris. I hate it already.''
''Very
well. I'm not sure about her residence as you see this is her address
when you were four years old. She has remarried and after her parents
death she sold her three hundred hectare complex. So this is all the
knowledge I have of her. You might will have to search her once you get
there. Be careful though.'' he patted him on the back.
''I'll
go get myself some sleep. Once you get back I want you in the office on
regular times.'' he said and Ben nodded looking back at the envelope.
Only one word in his mind echoing like a ear piercing thought. his heart
 racing.
'Why didn't you made any contact with me? why?
He
then went out side for a walk as there was no chance for him to sleep
in this house even if he tried to. In this house he could never sleep.
He called Jennifer. she did not answer. Maybe she was asleep or with someone.
After roaming around the orchards like a ghost he took his car keys and went back to his penthouse.
The guard inquired,'' You are leaving sir?''
''Yes tell dad I left.'' he then went away as fast as he could.
''Let's get married.'' Taylor said sipping his coffee.
''I think this means we are getting married.'' Tina spotted towards her ring.
''This
is kind of boring. You come to my house. I come to yours. Sometimes
we're together then we aren't. Can't you see I don't want to live
without you even for a minute.'' Taylor lay his head over her shoulder.
They both were sitting in the recreation ground's cafe after shopping and relishing every spot in the city.
''Yes it will be soon but not the next minute.'' she said and then got up.
she pointed towards her watch and Taylor got up too.
They went home and parted ways.
''Go get some sleep. You did not sleep well last night. Tomorrow is work.'' she kissed him and he went away.
Christina came in and found Rachel at the dinner table.
''Hello mom.'' she hugged her from behind and kissed her.
''Dinner?'' she asked.
''No mom I ate with Taylor. Any news of Ben?''
''No he did not call me after last night. So when are you both getting married?
''Soon.''
''Ben left you your present.'' Rachel got up and opened the drawer from the living room's bookshelf and handed it over to Tina.
''Aha, he did bought something I knew it.'' she opened it and wore it.
''Ben
knows how to buy a present.'' she then took out her phone from her bag
and texted Ben with a selfie of her wearing the chain and a caption of I
 love it.
Ben who was roaming around the empty street near his residence smiled at it.
''You are welcome Tins.'' he replied.
''Mom
I'll go to bed its work tomorrow and we have to  decide when to get
married.'' Tina came towards her mother who was now sitting on the
couch.
''I think next month would be great. I'll get all the arrangements done. You don't have to worry about anything.''
''He
the one living adjacent to us will already get everything done. He
wants to discuss it with you I'll bring him home tomorrow.'' Tina said
exhaustively.
''Okay. Goodnight.'' Rachel said to her and then switched on the television.
There was Christina lying in her bed. An emblem of friendship in her neck and a heartily portion of all the rest in her finger.
