Chapter twenty fifth:

 

''Don't tell me you convinced him on this.'' Taylor got up from the dining table and complained to her when she told him the big secret.

''I just wanted him to settle down and she's perfect for him. You haven't seen how much she loves him.'' she was giving Liz her breakfast and she was making all the crazy sounds kids make.

''These things have to happen from the heart not forcefully. I have seen Jenny and I know she is great and probably the best for him but this is not our decision to make. You tell me that it was your idea that Ben should get engaged but this was not your decision to make. It was his own choice, when I first met you I felt like you were the first and the last and that's it. I'm going to marry this girl and she is all that I'm going to have. No one told me this. This was something I felt. It came from the inside.'' he wore his coat and grabbed the car keys.

She got up and held his hand. ''Okay so don't get upset. You know if you are upset I am too. Let's talk about this in the evening.'' Taylor looked at her and kissed her and then said,

''Although I should stay back today but there is something important for which I must go.'' he kissed Liz and waved a goodbye.

 

Today's weather was unpredictable. In the early hours of the morning it was sunny but in the early afternoon the sky got black and it started raining. The rain then turned into a thunderstorm. Tina was closing the windows when she heard a horn and Jenny had arrived with all the things she told her to bring. A few people were working on decorating the hall.

The wind was lashing rain on their faces. 

''Come on in hurry.'' Tina took her in and then closed the door.

''It's such a storm today.'' she wiped her face with a towel and handed it back to her.

''There you are sweet child.'' she picked Liz up and she greeted her in her own child language.

''Ben will be here soon and he sent me early with the things. now due to the weather's situation his work will be cancelled and he will be earlier.''

''Yeah that would be great. I will be back in a moment.'' she was calling Taylor.

''Hello yeah, hon. '' he answered.

''Where are you do you know what time it is. In sometime everyone will be here and the storm's not good at all. I'm worried.'' she complained.

''I'm on my way coming right away.'' 

 

When she returned Rachel had arrived too with Ben. She brought more towels for everyone.

''This storm is going to make things tough.'' Ben said wiping his head. 

''No it won't rain is always good luck.'' Jenny said and began to unbox the decorations.

Taylor arrived too and then Christina was relieved. Her heart was acting strange it was feeling a sense of fear.

By the time evening was here all the things were prepared and the close friends would arrive in the night. Jenny asked for a leave and said she would be back in an hour. She was to reach the 

theater as Ben had promised. Ben was coming with her.

''I have done everything and I'm coming with you just as I promised. Yeah one thing Tins the guys from college all are coming''

''Yeah sure. It's been ages since I've met them.''

Jenny felt a joy as if everything was going to be okay. He fulfilled his promise. He does exactly what he says.

''Be back soon the party starts in an hour or so.'' Taylor said holding Liz close.

Christina was now inside getting ready. Taylor came in and said that he has to go for some random work and will be back soon.

 ''What is with you guys. Everyone is sneaking away when the things are about to start.''

She looked annoyingly at him. She was looking pretty in her red velvet gown.

He preceded towards her, '' Although it would be a crime to leave you at the moment with this dress you are wearing but if I don't go this evening won't be a memorable one.'' he was close to her sliding a strand of her hair from her cheek.

''Then don't I don't want you to go you will not believe me but I don't feel okay today even before when you went to office I was having a terrible thought.'' she gazed at him.

He was close his breath collided to hers.

''Terrible like I will not return.'' ''Shut up Taylor don't you ever talk like that again.'' she was angry and then he kissed her.

''Taylor don't go I don't want any present you are the significant treasure of my life why don't you understand, men never understand its true what mom says.''

''If mom said this she will be right but I'll be back before you know it. Just before you finish your makeover and just don't do anything else other wise I won't be able to resist it.'' he joked and she held her from his shirt.

''Have you checked the weather?'' she brought him to the window where rain was still lashing on the streets.

''I'll be back and Jenny and Ben are also out why didn't you stop them?''

''I don't know why I'm behaving like a typical wife.'' she went to the dressing and ignored him.

He came and kissed her on the head and got out of the room.

''Ma'am Liz is crying and she wouldn't stop.'' the nanny stood right in Taylor's way.

Taylor picked her and the nanny left.

Liz stopped crying and Tina said, ''See even she doesn't approve of your going at this time in this weather but you..'' she came and shut the door. In a matter of minutes Liz fell asleep and Taylor handed her to her mother who was angry as hell but she didn't stop him this time.  

She looked at him until he disappeared. 

                                                                            

'' This is about a princess turned into a swan by a evil sorcerer and then the prince falls in love with her but the sorcerer who wanted her daughter to be married to the prince kills them both they die in the swan lake.'' Jenny narrated the entire play to Ben who was now looking at her with amusement.

''Nice story but I never watched it. Tchaikovsky never interested me but I must say now he seems interesting to me.'' he took her hand and kissed her.

''I have no taste for this but really it is good, I believe you are changing me Jenny.''

''You are not changed, change is what makes people something they weren't but you , you are what you are and I'll never do anything to take that away from you. You are just a better person now leaving all your flaws behind.''

''Thank you no one has ever praised me like this can you say that again. It really felt good.''

he smiled. He was acting funny but it was the truth. No one praised him despite his bad character except Tina. There were numerous times she would take the blame for his silly actions over herself just to help him with his secrets and private life. Even from Rachel. The kind of friendship that they  had was unspeakable. It could never be described in words the bond and love they had. 

The ballet was reaching it's climax when Ben got a call and he left the theater to attend it.

Jenny's heart was beating fast in the background the sorcerer had drowned the princess swan and her prince.

This scene always had an affect on her. It had been long since Ben left and Jenny got upset. The ballet was over and she was now searching for him but he was not there. She checked the time and it she thought that the party must've been started. She was not sure whether to wait for Ben to return or she should go to Tina's. She had called him multiple times but his phone was off. Then she decided to go back without Ben.

The rain had flooded the streets as it had been raining simultaneously since noon. Jenny was driving slow until she saw a man struggling to pull someone out of a car wreck.

The whole road was blocked with traffic. The horns were honking and creating a ear piercing sound. The people were out helping the two poor men who were struggling for life in the wake of a storm. The thunder roared and the electric supply was suddenly shut. Now it was dark but thanks to some generous people who had switched on their headlights. Jenny was walking among the throng in order to be helpful because her car was at the end of the jam and she could give them aid. 

All she could make out of the victims of accident were mostly silhouettes.

She tried to call Ben again but no answer.

Where have you gone thank goodness I had the car keys if I didn't I would be in trouble. But then why did you disappear all of a sudden Ben?

she was talking to herself taking steps towards the place of the car crash.
