The horse was running fast. Catherine was not aware of the surroundings or the location. After riding long they reached a house. Rather old. The plaster had rusted and the greens were giving a view that the place had been deserted a long time ago. Edmund helped Catherine to get off rather than taking his hand she jumped down herself. Her cloak was all muddy but still over her shoulders. She began looking around.
''What is the point of all this Edmund. If you really were mature we could have talked about this in a real way rather than playing like this.''
''I would have loved to do the same but ask yourself why I did this. Even though it was not my plan to kidnap you like this but what happened happened. The vital part is that we finally are in front of each other.'' he opened the rusted door. Sounds of rats were coming from the empty hall. Dust, cobwebs had made the place even more haunted. In the middle of the hall a table and two chairs were placed and lamps were lightened.
''You really are scared to bring me here aren't you. Just wait till Victoria and Albert find out about this.'' she said looking at him directly in the eyes.
''Albert Albert Albert, I'm tired of this name, I gave a party in your honor and that whoreson ruined my party by stealing you away in front of everyone. I would love that he comes here and dies by my hand.'' he came closer.
Catherine looked away.
''What is in Albert that you fancy him that much.'' he held her closer by pulling her arms.
''Don't touch me Edmund.''
''Is he more handsome than me? Is he more richer than me? What does he have that I don't? Or is it something else? Tell me I want to know.''
Catherine released herself.
''He has a good heart which you can never have.''
Edmund stayed there for a while. ''You know this place, this was my father's treasured place. He would spend a lot of time here. It is deserted right but it is still very famous and I'm sure Albert will be here any moment. It would be a pleasure for me to kill him and you will witness his death. I could have easily taken you to my bedroom and ruined you for life but I didn't do anything as such for this is my real reputation because of which you rejected me, but I'll rather have you forever than one night.'' he sat on the chair.
Catherine stood near the wall looking out of the broken window.
''I believe you need help. Help from someone who really cares about you. I'm not the one you'll have. Not now not ever. No matter how hard you try.'' she stood there looking out she did not even looked at him.
Edmund got up and threw all the lamps down. Catherine still didn't looked away.
''Look at me. I want you to look at me directly and say all this.'' he came near her and this time instead of being frightened she looked at him directly.
''You need help, real help by someone who really cares about you. Running after something that will never be yours is pointless Edmund. The day of the ball when you saw me for the first time I didn't even know about it. When Victoria told me that you have an intention of marrying me I was confused about who you were. I didn't even know you. Then a few days later out of the blue you sent an invitation about some ceremony without even knowing my answer. You always had this feeling that I would marry you or like you all by yourself. You created a myth in your brain. If this is what you call love then I'm sorry you really need help. Love means letting go. Even if that person loves you, you have to set them free. You want to achieve me like a medal and you are exhausted because I am out of your reach.'' she sat down on one chair and began to sob.

''I don't know any of this. Even if you call it my sickness or exhaustion or egotism I will have you sooner or later. That's how it will be.'' he went outside and slammed the doors shut. The awful screech that came from the door echoed in the hall.

''Keep your eyes open. They may be many in numbers but I want Albert for myself. No one is supposed to touch him. Understood.''

''Aye my lord.'' the men said all at once
