 Chapter Twelve:

 

She had her arm around his arms. They both were walking together hand in hand. There was a certain thing Taylor felt while walking with her. It was as if he had been given the world. With her by his side it was the ultimate satisfaction of the whole lot. There are only specific terms in life when a human has a desire for something but it isn't revealed to the mind that instantly. It develops and grows with the human but when we meet that certain person for which this transformation has occurred, then that secret is revealed to us. 

The lights were shining and the music notes were flying in the air. There were many cars parked outside Tina's house and she was thinking, then said it to Taylor,

''I hope there are not many guests.'' Tina was sounding nervous.

''No its completely family.'' Taylor said and they reached the entrance which was decorated with poles on each step that had strings of bulbs and that covered their heads as they walked inside. Twinkling lights swirling with the singer's notes. The stars shining like diamonds in the sky. Ecstatic atmosphere binded their souls and the minds dwelling in it.

Tina saw the two of them standing in front of them. Rachel and Ben. She ran to Ben hugged him tight with her hands around his neck and he lifted her up.

''Happy Birthday.'' he kissed her on the cheek.

''Thank you. '' then she turned to her mother.

''Happy Birthday my dearest daughter.'' Rachel hugged her and kissed her on the head.

''Thank you Mom.'' she turned and saw Taylor and Ben talking to each other.

They came inside the garden where the arrangements were done. The same pole and lights were placed all over the garden covering the heads of the guests and being a barrier between their heads and the open sky. Night's sky was clear and the moon was shining. It was a summer's crystal clear sky. There were lights over the trees and the shrubs and little bushes. There were lights over the walls and fences, and lights everywhere. Wherever Christina's sight could see.

''This is really you. I can see everywhere in every way. This is my man.'' Tina came closer and kissed him.

''Hey love birds how about some cake. We were waiting for the both of you to come so we all could have some cake.'' Ben came over and placed his arms over Tina's shoulder.

''Since when you like cake more than liquor Ben?'' Tina looked at him with suspicion.

''Since I am sober.'' Ben told them the secret of his new life.

''Really. I'm so happy.'' she kissed him on the cheek and went to the table where Karen was placing the cake.

The singer was singing, ''happy birthday'' and all the guests joined him.

the candles were blown and the cake was cut. The first piece was divide into two by Tina and simultaneously she gave one bite to Rachel and the other to Taylor by her hand. Then she picked up two large pieces and brought it to Ben's mouth. When he opened it she stuffed his mouth with both the pieces at once. Which were too big for him to swallow or even to close his mouth.

''Enjoy, Ben. My presents now.'' Tina was  acting like a child now.

''Not now let us dance ourselves.'' Taylor took her hand and brought her to dance.

They both were dancing and looking at each other. As if they both have dived into each other's eyes and the rest of the world disappearing around them.

Ben took Rachel's hand and danced with her. Everyone was dancing with someone. The drinks were being served and some were enjoying near the bar. The sky was glowing with its stars participating in their event of joy. 

After their dance together Taylor left for a moment and Ben came and asked,

''May I have the pleasure of dance.'' he said and Tina gave him her hand.

''Shut up  please.'' she laughed.

They were both dancing in joy.

 

                                                                       

 

It was a night of horror, a night of grief and sadness. The most ominous of all nights she had witnessed ever in her life. It was a never ending darkness that had filled her from the inside and had struck her loved one. The most precious human being in her life her father. She was an only child. She was loved equal to many children that her mother conceived but was not able to give birth. She was the apple of their eyes. The fruit of their life. They loved her and she loved them. Their unbreakable bond was damaged and broken from one end by the death of her mother. Now the only one person holding the other half of that string was fighting with life and death in that room from the past twelve hours. I'm ominous, I'm jinx. I'm a stain I was a stain, a bloody stain over their beautiful happy life. I should've died. Why I survived? why? 

She was sitting with her head ducked in her legs and her hands over it. She was in a shock. Maybe if she did not control her emotions she would go crazy. This isn't happening. This isn't happening. A fear inside her knew that when the doctor would come out of that room, she won't  hear a good news.

In a shadow of her own words doubt she saw the doctor approaching to her.

''I'm sorry Miss Hudson. We did what we could.'' he held her hand and then went away.

The gallery was whirling. Everything around her was moving fast. In a matter of seconds everything went blank. She couldn't hear nor see. She fell on the ground.

Taylor came back and took Christina away from the lights. Then he pointed his finger to the sky where a thud sound came and letters began to appear in the sky. It was fireworks. First appeared a happy birthday.

''This is beautiful. Where do you get your ideas Taylor?'' Tina was looking up in the sky.

Then appeared,

Will and you and final marry me? accompanied with many more fireworks.

Ben threw away the gift he bought. Rachel was surprised. Everyone amongst the guests were surprised. Tina looked into Taylor's eyes. He bent on his one knee and then he touched the ground and took out a box. Opening it steadily and pointed it towards Tina.

''Will you marry me Christina?'' he said in a way that made her cry.

''Yes I will.'' She brought him up holding his hand.

''I will a million times.'' she said and kissed him passionately.

The crowd was congratulating them. Taylor took out the ring from the box which had a golden band and a square white diamond big enough to cover all her finger and took Christina's hand and slide it over her finger. 

''You've made me the luckiest guy on earth, thank you.'' he kissed her.

''I'm so happy for you both. May this moment be forever yours.'' Rachel hugged them both.

Tina looked at Ben who's face had gone all pale.

''Why are you hiding. Come give me my present.'' Tina went  to him.

''I would've if I had brought any.'' he said in a tense tone.

''Fine give me a hug then. Its the precious moment of my life Ben. Come.'' she hugged him and he did not hugged her back. He was stoned.

The guests were going one by one and Taylor was greeting them back holding hands with a few ones. Ben remained away from the people hiding in one corner to hid himself. It was a moment of numbness for him. He did not know how to react.

Christina approached her mother who was talking with the waiters and caterers,

''Mom I'll stay with Taylor tonight.'' she told her.

''Sure. Don't worry I'll take care of everything here. You go and cherish your happiness.'' she said smiling.

Rachel and Karen were done away with the guests when she saw Ben sitting in the dark at one corner of the lounge.

''Karen you can go home now. The rest will be taken care of tomorrow.'' she said and Karen nodded and went away closing the door behind her after taking her bag. 

Rachel was sensing that unusual moment going closer to Ben. First she switched off the lights of the garden and then turned on the lamp where Ben was sitting really upset.

She sat on the sofa beside him and with a heavy heart she gathered the courage to hear what she did not want to hear ever.

''Why does this happens to me always Rachel?'' he said in a whisper. Twisting in his hand the gift he bought for Tina. He threw it away in a bush but when Karen was clearing the things he picked it up so that no one finds it.

''Ben. I don't know why this is happening. Please Ben.'' Rachel's voice was hysterical.

''The determination of being connected always and then Mr illustrious takes it all away.'' he was crying.

Rachel looked at him without saying anything. It was a bad day and good day. How do you place both hatred and love in your heart at the same time? The heart was not built to store more than one feeling. We find a way to do that any way. 

''Ben.'' Rachel held his hand. He looked at her and then he cried. He laid his head on her lap and he was crying like a child.

''I don't understand destiny. I don't understand fate. I don't know why is this happening?'' Rachel kept her hand over his head and said in a whisper.

''I'm the unfavorable. It was since the day I was born till now. I can never see happiness never can I be a rejoice .'' he said and cried.

''Why didn't you tell her about it before Ben?'' Rachel said looking at him as he raised his head from her lap.

''I never felt this way until Taylor came. She loves him the way she looks at him its clear in her eyes. She forgets everything when he's around.'' Ben wiped away his tears.

''If it is meant to be it will happen. I believe there is someone in this world that is meant for you my son.'' Rachel held both of his hands.

''I am fated to be alone. To lose everyone I love. My heart is bleeding and pain is unutterable.''

Ben was saying looking at her.

''I met your mother once.'' Rachel said.

''What has she got to do with this? I hate her.'' Ben was angry.

''You love her. You love her more than anything else. You must meet her. She saved your Tina once. I believe once you see her you'll feel better.'' Rachel began to say.

''She's a great woman Ben. All your pain will be gone once you let go of that artificiality of hate you have grown as a barrier to hide away from witnessing the truth.'' Rachel's words were like a healing ointment for Ben. He was silent and looking at Rachel with surprise.

''You must. You are brave and the most handsome boy. What is it that you lack but your own inferiority thoughts. You must meet Helena and find happiness in your life with what you have and with those who love you. Tina loves you too. Not in the way you want but love is seeing those in delight whom we love. Life is not a fairy tale.'' Rachel said and got up.

''Now come and get some rest.'' Rachel said but Ben denied.

''I'll go home. Can you do me a favor. Give this to Tina.'' Ben said and went to the door.

He came back and hugged Rachel.

''You are great Rachel. I love you.'' Ben's sad mood was a bit lifted by Rachel's words.

''I love you too. Just don't drink much. It would have been better if you stayed here tonight at least I could have watched you.'' Rachel said with tears in her eyes.

 

 

There it was again, he his loneliness and his booze. He was drinking heavily and was sitting on the balcony of his penthouse. Crying over spilled milk. Then he was unconscious.

 

                                                            

 

It was a dawn. The birds were singing in harmony. They were congratulating the love birds on their new morning committed to each other. Tina opened her eyes and saw Taylor already awake and looking at her sliding fingers in her hair.

''You didn't sleep?'' she lifted herself up and then placed her back on the bed's back.

''I only wanted these eyes to see you. Not in dream in reality.'' he said and kissed her.

''I am with you forever and always.'' she said pointing towards the sparkling ring in her hand.

''It was worthless but now its worthy because you wore it.'' Taylor's eyes were charmed.

''What about office?'' Tina looked at the time.

''To hell with it. Today we'll spend the entire day together. Just you and me.'' Taylor took her hand and kissed it.

''Are you sure and who's going to take care of the work?'' Tina did not want her to be husband to risk his work for a single minute.

''What if something gets less, it doesn't matter after what I've achieved.'' Taylor was in the bad boy mood.

''Okay then.'' she hugged him.
