''Stop struggling Lady I have orders to bring you safe and sound don't struggle otherwise even if a scratch comes upon you my Lord will have his way with me.'' the man who had held Catherine blindfolded her.  

Catherine struggled as much as she could but all in vain. She couldn't see anything. ''Maybe Victoria was right I should have listened to her instead.'' she thought to herself and gave in. She sat still.

''Very well milady. Rufus faster it's still a long road ahead.'' he said taking his head out of the carriage window.

''Aye sir.'' the man took speed.

 

                                          

 

''Aren't you Jamie? Jamie Hopkins the famous bounty hunter what are you doing here, Ha now it makes all sense to me you and your wicked boss don't want Catherine to see me so you plan this all up and kidnap her in the woods. I'll teach you all a good lesson that you shall remember all your lives.'' he mounted his horse.

''No Lord Albert you are mistaken. Lady Victoria only hired me to guard Lady Catherine I was on the watch so god forbid something ill happens. I was instructed not to let her out of my sight.'' Jamie came in front of Albert stopping him.

''Well did you guard her? Where is she?'' he was angry and his face turned red.

''We must find Lady Catherine if I go back like this Lady Victoria will give me away to the gallows.'' Jamie struggled to stop Albert.

''If you all are unaware of what happened to Catherine then who could have done this.'' he began thinking and thinking and all the names of his enemies appeared like a bubble in front of his eyes.

''Madison. George Madison I must go now and you take as many men as you can and meet me at the ruins behind Edison field understood and this time do this work as prudently as you carried away the assassinations otherwise I shall report myself to the police understood.'' 

''Completely sir, Hey Peter go take the carriage back home and don't tell anything to Lady Victoria understood atta boy.'' 

 

                                           

 

''Where have you brought me?'' Catherine struggled when the men took her out of the carriage. The whole place smelt of mildew and grass wet grass. 

''Remove the blindfolds and bring the Lady here.'' an unfamiliar voice emerged.

The men untied her hands and blindfold.

Catherine looked around she couldn't see for a while because of the sun's rays.

''Ha, you really are something aren't you? This is why my dear friend is so crazy about you. Don't worry now that you are here we shall guard you until he comes.'' the man said.

''Who do you think you really are? Do you call yourselves men? Then you should have done something manly enough instead of kidnapping a helpless woman like this.'' she rubbed her wrists which were bruised.

''Catherine.'' Edmund came and unmounted his horse.

''What have you done George you idiot. Is this a way of anything. These men of yours have bruised her wrists'' Edmund took her wrists in her hands but Catherine backed off.

''Sir she was resisting all the way, we didn't do anything.'' one of the kidnappers said.

''Don't worry. She's fine you take her away from here. Before someone comes I'm sure Albert must have found out by now and it's inevitable that he would be here any moment. Go now there's no time.'' George said coming forward.

''He'll be here and then you all will see what wrath you have brought upon yourselves.'' Catherine roared.

''Come on we must go.'' Edmund forcefully carried Catherine on his shoulder mounted his horse and disappeared. 

After half an hour George was ready to leave.

''I am going you both shall get lost somewhere and no one should find you. Even if someone did then you both don't know anything, understood.'' 

They both nodded.

''What mess we both have brought upon ourselves mate, I heard that Albert is a dangerous man and by the only thought of it me scared.'' he saddled his horse and mounted it.

''The mighty price that George Madison has given us is enough to return back home don't forget that otherwise we were both bankrupt who would have given us that much money. My family has already suffered enough.'' he gathered his firearms in a bag.

''I would pay you double if you tell me exactly where Catherine is and by whose orders did you do what you do. '' Jamie came from a thicket.

Horses footsteps could be heard in the distance.

''Did you hear that. You both have two choices, either to speak and gain the other be loyal and die by the blade.'' he took out a dagger from his pocket.

Both the kidnappers looked at each other.

''I'm Jamie, Jamie Hopkins you must have heard about me and how much of a merciless killer I am. Suit yourselves till my many men stomp you both beneath their horses hooves.'' 

''Speak I say.'' Jamie yelled and the bag of firearms slipped from the man's hand.

He quickly took out a gun and fired. Jamie dodged the other kicked him in stomach he fell and got up.

''Run mate as fast as you can you have a family me have no one me keep them busy.'' the man had his gun pointed on Jamie. 

The men arrived and gathered them from all around.

''It's too late we both fight or we die.'' they both attacked Jamie but Jamie quickly dodged them and slit one's arm with his dagger he fell down crying. The other jumped and punched him Jamie backed off he fell on the ground and broke his leg. A shower of blood spurred from his leg. Jamie sat down on the stone and began cleaning his dagger with his shirt.

Both kidnappers were lying bleeding on the ground.

''Speak now before by god I kill both of you.'' he yelled.

''Edmund and George have taken Catherine to someplace we don't know.'' one of them said covering his leg with his hand.

''Only this I know already next speak up.'' 

''We know nothing else, George just left a minute ago before you arrived, you can still catch him.'' he cried in pain.

''Very well.'' Jamie got up mounted his horse nodded to one of his men.

''You promised to spare us.'' the wounded kidnappers yelled.

A man took out a sword and beheaded both of them.

''Lesson one, never trust a man who sells his loyalty for his life. Lesson two a bounty hunter never spares such disloyal men.''

 

He rode faster and reached Edison field, he found Albert with many men with daggers, swords and other firearms.

''I could only find that as you said George and Edmund are behind all this but nothing more could be done.'' Jamie said meeting Albert at the ruins.

''They'll come here I am sure this is George's favorite place we'll get some clue but remember to keep your men ready they should attack when we order them to.''

''Yes sir they are ready for command.'' 

The time was running slower than usual for Albert it had stopped. He was stuck in the morning when he was waiting for Catherine to come and meet him. The meadows were still, the air stopped. The river's movement was held. Everything had lost its color and charm. 

''God Catherine , if something happens to you I'll wipe Edmund's name from the earth.''
