Chapter Twenty three:

Not all is well for a woman who lost her parents, lost her affection and love too. She struggled herself out of the miseries of her life then a shadow appeared. He was kind and civilized. In fact for her she was perfect. Perfect.......
''Yes I hear you and I understand but things are different for me now Ben.'' she paused for a moment and began to circulate the mug of the coffee on the table as if she was nervous or confused or both.
''I don't want it to be like this I want it to the best.'' he placed his hand over hers.
''Things don't work like we want them.'' she got up although Ben wanted her to sit close.
''I'm not like you guys. I have seen much cruel faces of life than you have ever seen. I promised your mother something and I'm gonna keep it. As far as we both are concerned its over.''
She grabbed her purse and keys and went out of the door.
She rushed to her apartment as soon as possible because she had the fright of being caught. The fright that she had fallen for him. Terribly.
''Nothings going to be easy for you Ben.'' he said in anger and slammed the mirror on his wall with his hand.
It was bleeding severely.

She changed the condition of the house into a pretty one. She painted the walls hung new curtains. Cleaned the furniture and even polished the rusty items. She fixed the bulbs and arranged all the family photos on the wall fantastically. She was a daughter of the city's famous furniture artist and interior designer. She knew how to fix broken and damaged things in the wink of an eye. She had talents unnumbered.
She brought Taylor with eyes covered and then opened them.
Taylor was shocked. It was as if his mother was alive and had reconstructed the house by herself.
''Now what you will say.'' she said proudly.
''What can I say? you do things which cannot be described in words. I love myself for loving you.'' he kissed her and then lifted her up and they began to dance in joy.

The time of their trip had ended. They had planned it for a month but they stayed for forty five days which was too much. ''I informed mom we'll be home tomorrow for dinner. She misses us quite a lot.'' Christina said packing Taylor's things.
''It's really been many days but I feel as if we just came now.'' he was checking and sending mails on the laptop.
''You know something Taylor? Heaven has different versions and meaning for every individual, for most people it is wealth, fortune or precious metals. For me it has always been countryside, summer, dogs, horses and privacy. Privacy with someone you can never tire of being with. I really wish we could stay here forever. Thank you for this heaven. You really understand me more than anyone even myself can.'' she cried.

''This is our heaven and yes we can live here forever but I believe this must be done when you and I are old.'' she kissed her hands.
''I wish being old together would be our fairy-tale.''

''Please come more often Sir and Ma'am. I have never seen Sir that much happy.'' William the gate keeper said when their car was about to go to the airport.
''We will very soon.'' Christina smiled at him from behind her sunglasses.
''Take care till then William and take care of all your Ma'am's assets.'' Taylor shook his hand.
In a matter of minutes the car disappeared and the farm was waving them a goodbye.

The city was just as it was. For a moment  Christina regretted coming back to the busy lives where she might get less of her husband but then at the thought of her dear ones and getting to meet them after this much time for the first time in her life was exciting for her as hell.
In the evening the family had dinner together, Ben was quite lost in thought and when Christina asked her about Jenny he just changed the subject.

In the spaces between the clouds sun's rays were shining as such that it hurt the eyes while glancing on such naked rays. The garden was lush green just as Dylan would keep it. A toddler would be running and playing with her mother as her tresses covered her beautiful face. Helena would lift the baby up in her arms and catch him when he giggled.
''I love you my son.'' she said and curled the baby Ben in her arms.

He woke up drenched in sweat and glanced at the clock. It was 4 in the morning and his heart was just about to explode from his chest. He drank water and calmed himself down. An unknown fear was developing in him. As if something terrible was about to happen.
His phone rang and he saw the name.
His heart beating more faster faster faster and faster.
Fear growing stronger and stronger and his entity growing little and little by every heart beat.
He gathered himself and answered the call with shaking voice and his hands were trembling.
''He...he...llooo'' he voice was muffled as if he was strangled.
Tim was on the line he remained silent for a while and then said,
''Helena's no more Ben.'' his voice was mixed with a cry.
Ben lost his control and the phone slipped from his hand on the floor. He sat there motionless.
For many hours.
How many he had no idea. His world had slipped from his hands and his universe was turned upside down.

It was 12 and Jenny was worried. He tried to call Ben and his phone was switched off. She could not just sit in her cabin and concentrate on her work anymore. She was feeling as she had a hand in the current bizarre situation. Or something really was wrong. She had to do something. She went straight home and to Ben's apartment. The door was open she went inside and saw Ben sitting motionless on the chair. His hand was bruised severely and it hadn't been bandaged properly.
''Ben my goodness what happened.'' she said after looking at his hand. She brought a first aid kit and sat on her knees in order to bandage his wound.
''How long have you been sitting like this huh? I was so worried about you.'' she looked at his stoned face. His eyes were plain, face expressionless, ears numb.
''What happened Ben?'' she shook him in order to bring him back to consciousness.
Once was not enough she had to repeat the process a million times to bring him back from the dead.
''Ben. '' she shouted so loud that he burst into tears.
''She's dead Jenny.'' he finally moved his tongue and gathered the force to say the three words that had stoned him.
Jenny gasped, ''Who?'' she was tensed. ''Helena my mother.'' he hugged her and cried until he was relieved.

Dylan, Jenny , Ben , Christina , Rachel all were there on the funeral when Helena was laid to rest. Tim had thanked them for their arrival. Taylor was busy and had sent his regards to the family of Helena. Elaine was just as grieved as Ben was the only difference was that he was a mature man and had controlled himself whereas she was not controllable.
Family and friends were gathered in the house where only two months ago Ben had paid a visit to her mother for the first time in twenty six years. They were so happy and relieved to be with each other only to be apart from each other and meeting for the final time.
It was dreadful to look at the house or to stay here even for a moment. Ben came out of the house. Jenny followed. Tim followed them.
''Ben.'' he called Ben from behind.
''I'm sorry I was just not feeling well that's all.'' his eyes were red and gave the sign he hadn't slept at all.
Jenny was consoling him ever since that time.
''The night she had the cardiac arrest, I was with her the whole time. Elaine knows nothing about that, that her mother suffered a attack and due to which she is no more. She just kept on calling you. She was worried about you. When she said her last words it was about you. For Elaine she had no worries because she knew she had been brought up by her own mother and father but for you she was worried. She said that when I get to meet you I must convince you to leave the past behind and move on. That you must live your life like whole person. That you mustn't be sorrowful. Then I asked her how should I say this to your son and inform him about your death with it you know what she replied? she said I know he loves and will grieve about it but even then he must learn to move on and be happy. That's all and when I called you that was the exact time she left us.'' he paused and began to wipe his tears removing his glasses.
''What was the exact time of her death?'' Ben asked.
''4 in the morning.'' Ben was shocked.
It was as if his dream was a goodbye from Helena.
Tim's friend took him by the arm, ''I must go now I have a sick daughter to take care of although I would appreciate that you pay her more visits as she really loves you. ''
''Ben.'' voice of a child came from back.
They all turned and Elaine was standing next to them. ''Mommy left us Ben.'' she hugged him. He didn't respond. Then he responded. ''I know but I am always here for you my sweet dear Elaine, you must not worry about anything we all are here to take care of things for you.'' he tucked her hair behind her ear. Although he wished he had someone who would console him in the way he was consoling Elaine. ''Ben. Jenny are you both going?'' Tina came. Rachel and Dylan also were present outside. Tim who was about to go inside stood right there.
''I cannot stay here for even a moment. Please forgive me I must leave at once.'' Ben looked at Jenny as if he wanted her to come with him. She read the language of his eyes.
''Don't go please Ben.'' Elaine held his hand. ''I'll be back soon and you and I can always be in touch I'll take you to my home whenever you say but right now I have to go my dear.'' he got up and began to move out of this place as fast as he could.
''I'll be with him he is not feeling well at all. '' Jenny followed him and the rest of them were standing there watching them leave.
''Mom did Helena saved me when I was lost in Paris?'' Tina asked her mother when they were back inside. ''Yes.'' Rachel looked at the beautiful face of Helena with sad eyes. The portrait was painted skillfully that hung in the center of the stairs.
''I hope Ben gets well I am worried about him.'' Tina was really worried.
''You don't have to worry. Such things can not be get rid off quickly specially a wound like his. It will take sometime but I'm sure with Jenny by his side he will get soon. Let us bid farewell to the family and its almost time for our plane Taylor's been calling you go answer him.'' Rachel went over to Dylan who was neither happy nor sad but he was drunk for sure. The entire people were French and he did not speak French. He taught Ben but he hated it himself. He hated it and he loved Helena. The truth was visible in his eyes how devastated he was on her funeral but he showed of as if he was completely fine.
''Are you okay Dylan ?'' Rachel sat on the couch next to him and he just had another glass of whiskey.
''I don't know what to say. I was so proud of myself that I had everything. Every fucking thing. Today I feel like a beggar. When she was alive I was happy no matter whether she was with me or not I was happy. I killed her in a way when I took her son from her, I killed her the day I met her, I  killed her the day she walked out of that house I had built for her. I am the reason why her bright eyes turned sorrowful and I will never forgive myself for it.'' he gulped the entire whiskey in one sip and then stood on his shaky legs and walked out of the lounge.
Rachel sat there for a while and then she bid farewell to Tim.
''Thank you for your visit.'' Tim did not knew them but he respected that they had traveled all the way for her. ''We were not friends nor were we acquainted but Ben is just like my own child. I raised Tina and him together. I only met Helena once but she was a great woman. Thank you for everything but we must leave we have a plane to catch.''
''Goodbye Elaine.'' Tina hugged her. ''I like you will you come again?'' Elaine rubbed her eyes. ''Of course whenever you want.'' Tina hugged her again.
